Standardizing Persian alphabet letters in PCs, note books and cell phones is an important issue in Persian writing. Diversity of letters assigned to a given key as well as inappropriateness of the assigned letters to keys in relation to the frequency of letters are the most important issues for the Iranians using Persian keyboards. Although the standard Persian keyboard has been organized in a way that all similar letters stand side by side and they have almost been organized alphabetically, the most and the least frequent letters are not the most and the least accessible ones. To assign letters to keys, the researcher calculated the frequency of Persian letters in a corpus of about 1,270,000 letters. The results showed that there is no significant relationship between the frequency of the letters and the accessibility of the keys assigned to them. The study analyzed the keys organized in each of three rows on the Persian keyboards based on the frequency of letters assigned to them. It was found out that the letters with a high degree of frequency stand close to the letters with low frequency. The researcher designed a keyboard layout based on relative frequency of letters and fingering frequency.

The ideological discourse analysis and critical studies in social and human sciences have been of much interest recently. Critical discourse analysis (CDA) aims at discovering the negative influences of language use on the production and reproduction of power and domination relationships in society. Thus, social inequalities such as race, age, religious, gender and class discrimination have been substantially dealt with in this theory. As a case study, the present paper reflects the gender discrimination in child literature and its effect on the formation of child identity. To do so, ten stories about Iran-Iraq War including seven short stories and three longer ones were chosen. The stories are male-dominant in their number of characters, their activity type or participation and relevance to the war. In these stories, the women are neglected, detached, inactive and sometimes deleted. Considering the power, domination and hegemony and studying the clichéd presupposition and euphemistic and derogatory terms and so on, it is shown that inactive and neglected representation of females and the active, noticeable representation of males even the teenage and old ones during the war can help to the reproduction of the unequal power scale with the men at the powerful side and females at the powerless side.

The present paper seeks to study the relationship between spatial mentality and the spatial language. Using Leibnitz’s theory which considers space as relational in language, and based on Levinson’s model (2006) in the classification of space domain, we survey the structuring process of the space concept in Persian language. The required data were gathered from among spoken and written sentences in standard Persian containing place prepositions motor-verbs and other grammatical categories referring to place. The data were analyzed with regard to the concepts of “deicticity”, “semantic extension” and “mental space” in Persian language. The results indicated that the speaker adopts a speaker-orientated approach and puts himself in the center or the spatial zero point and describes the position of things with regard to his own location

The study of internal structure and functions of pronouns across languages can be useful for typological, theoretical as well as descriptive studies. Personal pronouns in Iranian languages and dialects have been investigated in the present study. The study has indicated that the pronouns are in clitic as well as free morphemes. The study also indicated that the languages and dialects benefit from various linguistic tools to show the effect of variables like person, number, gender, transitivity and tense. The study has also shown that the investigated languages have three forms in person and two in number. Regarding gender, almost all are neutral. The clitic forms of pronouns are in either enclitic or post-clitics. In some dialects it has been indicated that tense is of effective variables. Transitivity and ergativity are two of the factors that have been found effective in the study
