Based on his theory, this descriptive-analytic research aims to analyze 4 selected poems of the religious/ethical collection of Wheatley (1773) from three aspects: (a) identifying Wheatley’s warrants, (b) categorizing her claims and their grounds, and (c) her tone and certainty. Consequently, the following results were obtained; Wheatley’s claims and recommendations in selected poems were rewritten in simplified language, free from figures of speech, which varied greatly in proportion to the number of selected poems. However, these claims can be categorized under these related fields: (a) individual ethics, (b) governmental-political ethics, and (c) theology. Since most of these claims are prescriptive, Wheatley can be categorized as a deontologist. In addition, supporting the claims, numerous warrants were identified mostly rational and implicitly-asserted.Although she tends to use a conservative voice by resorting to prays, rhetoric questions, exclamations and hyperboles while addressing her recommendations to elites and high-ranked people, she prefers a declarative voice which essentially does not need any qualifiers. In sum, Wheatley has a strong, assertive and consistent voice in the selected poems.}, keywords = {Argumentation,Wheatley,Theory,Toulmin,analysis}, title_fa = {تحلیل گزیده‌ای از اشعار فیلیس ویتلی، شاعر آفریقایی ـ آمریکایی برپایة نظریة «استدلالِ» تولمین}, abstract_fa = {نظریة استدلال یا استدلال‌ورزی، مطالعه‌ای بین رشته‌ای است که می‌توان ازطریق آن و با استنتاج منطقی، به نتیجۀ خاصی رسید. استنتاج منطقی بدین معنا است که ادعاهایی، چه صحیح چه غلط، مبتنی بر مقدماتی مطرح می‌شود. این فرایند در علوم انسانی، مناظره‌های مدنی، مباحثه و گفتگو کاربرد داشته و هدف از آن غالباً اقناع مخاطب و دفاع از اعتقادات ویا منافع طرفین است. یکی ازنظریه‌های معروف، نظریة استدلال ورزی تولمین است که دارای شش مؤلفة دعا، داده‌ها، برهان، پشتوانۀ برهان، ردیّه یا نقیض برهان و شاخص‌های قطعیتِ کلام می‌باشد که سه مورد اول حضور قطعی و مابقی، اختیاریا‌ند. این پژوهش تحلیلی ـ توصیفی که بر محور نظریة ادبی می‌باشد، با هدف تحلیل و واکاویِ چند قطعۀ برگزیده از اشعار (مجموعه‌های دعاوی و توصیه‌هایِ) سیاسی، اخلاقی و اعتقادی فیلیس ویتلی؛ ویتلی، شاعر آفریقایی ـ آمریکایی(1773) ‌از سه جنبۀ الف) شناسایی برهان‌ها، ب) شناسایی دعاوی و زمینۀ آنها و ج) لحن و قطعیت کلام مورد توجه قرارگرفته-است. نتایج حاصل از این بحث، مشخص می‌سازد که دعاوی و توصیه های ویتلی با زبانی ساده و به دور از تصنع و تکلف ادبی بازنویسی شده و نسبت به تعداد قطعات، دارای تنوع بسیار زیادی هستند. دعاوی مذکور، نشان ازآن دارد که ویتلی در زمرۀ وظیفه‌گرایان قاعده‌نگر که گرایشی از هنجارشناسان اخلاق هستند، می‌باشد. در نمونه اشعار بررسی شده، برهان‌های متعددی شناسایی شده غالباً ازنوع عقلی بوده و به‌صورت تلویحی و ضمنی مورد اشاره قرارگرفته‌اند. هرچند ویتلی، در بیان توصیه‌های خود به افراد صاحب‌مسند و عالی‌رتبه، از ساخت‌های محافظه کارانۀ دعایی، تعجبی، مبالغه و سؤال خطابی بهره می‌برده، ولی، غالباً ترجیح می‌داده از ساختار قاطع خبری استفاده کند که ذاتاً نیازی به تقویت‌کننده ندارد. در مجموع، ویتلی در اشعار منتخب، لحن قاطع، بااطمینان و باثباتی دارد.}, keywords_fa = {استدلال,فیلیس ویتلی,نظریه,تولمین,تحلیل}, url = {https://jlkd.um.ac.ir/article_41420.html}, eprint = {https://jlkd.um.ac.ir/article_41420_6bea9c9167a5158ec649c5b2bf12dece.pdf} }
